Additional Irrigators Fixed Water Charges Rebate Scheme
Due to low water availability, the Queensland Government is providing eligible irrigators with a rebate for the payment of the fixed water charges (or part fixed water charges) incurred from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009 in the following water supply schemes: Lower and Central Lockyer, Upper Condamine, Barker Barambah, Upper Burnett and Three Moon Creek.
Applications for this scheme have now closed.
What assistance is available?
A rebate of up to $10,000 is available for irrigators in eligible water supply schemes for invoices issued for a quarterly or half yearly billing period in the 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009 financial year.
Under the Additional Fixed Water Charges Rebate Scheme, irrigators must be in an eligible water supply scheme with announced water allocation of 20% or less on 1 July 2008. These eligible water supply schemes are:
- Barker Barambah
- Central Lockyer (Morton Vale)
- Lower Lockyer
- Three Moon Creek
- Upper Condamine
- Upper Burnett (Claude Wharton) Section
For detailed information about the Additional Irrigators Fixed Water Charges Rebate scheme, including the eligibility criteria. Please view the scheme Guidelines.
To apply for the rebate, please complete the Additional Irrigators Rebate Scheme Application Form and submit to QRAA. Only one application will be required to be completed for rebates being sought for invoices issued between 1 July 2008 and 30 June 2009.
How is the amount of assistance determined?
The amount of the rebate is determined by past and current low water availability on invoices issued by your water service provider.
If you have experienced low water availability, that is, a 20% or less announced allocation, the rebate will be calculated on this allocation over the eligible periods (i.e. the billing period for a current invoice and the 3 immediate preceding financial years).
| A 20% or less announced allocation experienced for eligible period: | Rebate (%) |
|---|---|
| All of the eligible periods | 100% |
| Any 3 of the eligible periods | 75% |
| Any 2 of the eligible periods | 50% |
| Any 1 of the eligible periods | 25% |
Terms and Conditions
QRAA programs are subject to terms and conditions that identify the required eligibility criteria for each scheme. If you are interested in applying for a rebate, you must:
- Be an irrigator and liable to pay fixed water charges.
- Be a customer of a water service provider (including SunWater and SEQ Water).
- Meet the low water availability threshold (of a 20% or less announced allocation) as outlined in the Guidelines; and
- Have paid the invoices incurred from 1 July 2008 (Additional Irrigators Fixed Water Charges Rebate Scheme).
Financial Hardship
If you are suffering financially and unable to pay these invoices, then you are able to apply for the rebate under financial hardship. A current low income health care card from Centrelink or a certificate from a suitably qualified person (e.g. accountant/bank manager), will be required with your application. If successful, a cheque will be forwarded to you made payable to your water service provider.
