20 November 2009 - QRAA welcomes Roma Client Liaison Officer

Mieke Elder has taken up the Roma appointment of QRAA’s new Client Liaison Officer.

QRAA Chief Executive Officer, Colin Holden, welcomes Mieke to QRAA and says Mieke’s wealth of knowledge, experience and agricultural background will greatly assist in her new role as Roma’s Client Liaison Officer.

“We welcome Mieke to QRAA and believe her experience in the agribusiness banking sector and knowledge of agricultural production systems will be a great asset to our business, our customers and our stakeholders in the Western Downs and Maranoa regions,” Mr Holden said.

Officially taking up the position this month, Mieke will replace Craig Turner who has moved into QRAA’s Brisbane head office in the position of Manager Customer Relations.

“I am excited and proud to be joining an organisation like QRAA whose commitment to strengthening its connections to Queensland’s rural and regional customers remain the number one priority,” Ms Elder said.

“Making ends meet during the drought is a major concern for many Queensland producers and it is important to recognise QRAA can assist producers to improve their on-farm productivity and create opportunities to generate stronger returns through QRAA’s low interest Productivity Loans.

“QRAA can also play an important role in providing assistance to small business operators who are adversely affected by exceptional drought conditions or by natural disasters of substantial magnitude.”

Mieke’s previous roles spent in the agribusiness banking sector have allowed her to gain extensive knowledge in agricultural production systems and commodity marketing in rural Queensland. Mieke’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Agricultural Science with first class honours and she has progressed through the ranks of the ANZ Graduate Program, spending three years in agribusiness roles at ANZ most recently as the Roma ANZ Assistant Manager.

As a QRAA Client Liaison Officer, Mieke will liaise with producers, small business operators, industry, bankers, accountants and government agencies in the Roma region and provide information about QRAA’s range of products and services. She will also visit producers on-farm to carry out property inspections and answer enquires about QRAA programs and application processes.

Based in Roma, Mieke will service the Maranoa Regional Shire Council, Goondiwindi Regional Council, Balonne Shire Council, Murweh Shire Council, Paroo Shire Council, Taroom in the Banana Shire and parts of the Western Downs Regional Council area including Miles, Wandoan, Tara and Chinchilla.
