Natural Disaster Assistance - Small business
Natural disasters often occur when we least expect them. Should you be affected by a natural disaster such as floods, cyclones, storms or bushfires, financial assistance may be available from QRAA.
What assistance is available?
A low interest loan up to $250,000 can assist you to re-establish your business by covering costs such as:
- repairing or replacing damaged plant and equipment
- repairing or replacing buildings
- supplying stock for up to one month to replace lost stock and maintain liquidity of the business
- meeting carry-on requirements including:
- paying rent and rates

|Early payout fees|
Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible for assistance, you must have received direct damage from an eligible natural disaster and your small business must be located in an activated local government area.
Please note that small businesses can only receive assistance under the Natural Disaster Assistance Scheme OR the Natural Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) Scheme for an eligible disaster - not both.
Current disaster declarations
The Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services announced on 29 March 2017 that concessional loans are now available for small businesses affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie and associated rainfall and flooding, 28 March - 6 April 2017.
To apply for assistance for direct damage caused by Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie and associated rainfall and flooding, you must be located in one of the following local government areas:
